XCOM feels too artificial, like playing a board game, and there's very few other tactical games with decent production values. In any case, JA2 is a double patient gamer treat - it's old, but gold, so you owe it to yourself to try it and it also requires patience (but it's hella fun!). The move phase and shoot phase is kinda cool, having a reliable cover system is cool also, but at the same time all those modern games lack in the amount of content and just plain freedom of tackling and encounter. The only thing I can say is kinda meh is that the AI is dumb but always seems to have the advantage and get extremely lucky and later in the game spongy, which makes the game pretty hard.Īt the same time, we have more modern games that streamlined stuff. Like in JA2 your gear is important, your ammo is important, your mercs being rested is importan, time od day is important and everyone has their unique character, likes and dislikes.
